Focusing Through the Lens: Week 30

This week is going to be a little different with photos. Usually I shoot with my trusty Canon Rebel t6 but this past week, I didn’t really use my camera. Hubby and I ran away to celebrate 14 years of being married and even though the camera was with us, I didn’t really get it out much. Which means this weeks pictures will be the ones I got with my iphone. Now, don’t hate on them yet. They aren’t bad but wanted to give you a heads up. So let’s jump in the getaway and see what is focusing through my lens! I hope you have enjoyed what has been focusing through my lens. I have enjoyed sharing with y’all. Are you a Fall fan? Or have you been to the Petit Jean Coffee house yet? Let’s get social in the comments and don’t forget to share this to social media!

Focusing Through the Lens: Week 29

Hello again this week! It is Wednesday, which means a new post in the weekly series of Focusing Through the Lens. I know we just went on a drive on Monday, but I did promise I would be better about posting on the day I started on, so here we are! Are you ready for another drive down back roads? It has been too hot with the humidity to get out and go for a weekend hike but don’t fret, because soon there will be another adventure for us to go on which involves some water here in Arkansas. Grab your water bottle, comfy shoes, and get ready to ride! Thank you for coming along for another drive. I would love to hear what you would like to see in pictures. Feel free to comment and share what you want to see. As you can see I love old barns, buildings, and landscape. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Focusing Through the Lens: Week 28

Hey y’all! You ready for another walk/drive? I know I am posting this late/early but I want to say: I am going to do better about posting weekly. As I type this, next week’s pictures are loading to my computer. So this week we are going to focus through the lens on a Summer evening. Grab some water, some bug spray cause the mosquitos are out in full force, and your comfy shoes. Let’s take our weekly time together. Do you like old barns? Or maybe you have a different idea of a Summer evening. I would love to hear from you. I hope you enjoyed this drive as Summer is passing quickly and I hope we have many more drives to enjoy together.

Focusing Through the Lens: Week 27

This week we are going on a tiny adventure. I say tiny because we made an escape to a couple of flea markets I have been wanting to visit for a little while. While we were out, I was able to talk Hubby into taking us to play in one of Arkansas’ many rivers. We started in Caddo Valley at a flea market, which from the outside doesn’t look like much, in a metal building. We just happened to find it about two years ago on an accident. Since our next stop was in Glenwood, we made the jump to Norman. The most popular thing is most likely the tiny library which also has tourist information. So grab your towel, sunblock, river shoes and let’s get going. I hope you have enjoyed this walk through my lens. Do you have a favorite picture from this week? Do have something you like to look at each season? I can’t wait to hear from you!

Focusing Through The Lens: Week 26

Guess what?! We have made it half a year with this series. I am so excited to have had this chance and how much I have grown in my skills as a photographer. Have you checked any of the other weeks of the series? Here are a couple of my favorite ones. Week 7, 11, 16, 23. This week we are taking a walk around Texarkana. This was a spur of the moment trip to get get out and walk about for us. I hope you enjoy what we are focusing through my lens. Thank you for taking this walk with me. We hope to go find some of the murals in downtown Texarkana soon. When we do, I will do a post about them like the one of the murals of Hope. Have you been to downtown Texarkana yet? Or is it on your list of places to visit?

Focusing Through the Lens: Week 25

This week our walk will be a bit of hodge podge. Late Spring and early Summer is upon us and this means golden hour is here with so much more warmth. So let’s put on our hiking shoes and see what is focusing through lens. This week was a bit of a hodgepodge of focusing through the lens. Next week I promise there will be a trip somewhere again. I am asking y’all my dear ones, to help me pick somewhere you would like to go virtually. All you have to do to vote is drop a comment naming the place! I can’t wait to hear from y’all!

This week, we are back in Historic Washington State Park for our walk. There were just too many good shots of flowers I wanted to share with y’all. If you haven’t checked out last week click here to see. Also different this week, I am just going to post pictures. I wanted to share these other great shots with you. If you want to see them for yourself, head on down to Washington and don’t forget to bring your camera. Without further ado, let’s focus through the lens and take a walk. Thank you for walking with me this week. Next week, I promise we will go to another place and I can’t wait to share with y’all!

Focusing Through the Lens: Week 23

This week we are going on a little walk in one of my favorite state parks, Historic Washington State Park. Actually, my friend Keisha messaged me and said I should head to the park because it was in full bloom. Well minus the Magnolia tree. Glitter just had her 13th birthday so this was also a perfect time to take her out to let her shoot. So let’s go on a walk focusing through the lens at Historic Washington State park. I hope you have enjoyed this walk through Historic Washington State Park. Looking for some more on the park? More flowers here and we will be enjoying a tour soon (even though I use to work there) to share this great park with y’all.

Dear Future Self: Remember The Pause of 2020

Dear Future Self, Like most people who were alive during the Pause, you remember differently. All the news coverage, the abruptness of not going anywhere, the milestones which were celebrated well after they happened, or the strangeness of everything. You have the chance to remember the good, if you try. Also like most, you were waiting for the “normal” to return. The freedom to move about however you want. Being able to go to the stores at all hours of the night. The restrictions to be removed as things improve. I don’t blame you. As I am writing this, I am wishing for almost the same thing. Instead, I am wishing you will remember the time you got to spend with Glitter. No, it was not all a bed of roses and yes there were fights, but being around each other for days it is going to happen. Pause and try again. Life will change and she will grow up. You will miss this time. Remember, GRACE. This is going to come in handy during this time and can help you. You don’t know what everyone else is going through. You can extend Grace without giving up your peace and you will need Grace during this time. No one is really by themselves, we were in this together. Think of all the extra time you got to spend with Hubby. All the hiking, exploring, talking, and time spent together. This is going to be amazing for your marriage. Don’t let this time go to waste and cherish those times together. Remember all the positivity? I hope you keep it going. All the positivity showed us no matter what, we are connected. The phrase: “social distancing” doesn’t mean you can’t connect with people. I hope you continue to reach out and connect with the people in your life. These times are going to show who are with you in spirit and not just in name. Cherish everyone in your life because who knows how long they will be there. I hope you recall from the Pause, the way you were able to connect with yourself and figured out what is important and what is not. Hopefully you can figure out how to do what you want as a profession and take the leap to some degree. Slow down, breathe, and figure it out. Maybe the dream you have held close and shared with a selected few is the one you should share with more. Don’t be scared, leap to see where you will go. You have support, more than you think. Above all, I hope you remember kindness. Kindness is something which will be needed in high demand during and after this time. You will need kindness more than once. It is a Pause not the new normal. Everyone has the chance to make the normal a better one and I hope you have taken the chance. Sincerely, Alicia in the middle of the Pause.
