Focus through the lens

Focusing Through the Lens: Week 37

Hello my lovelies! Here we are at week 37 of my weekly series. This week we are going to visit Lake Catherine State Park. Well to be honest, I visited here a couple of weeks ago. Right now I am unable to explore due to an injury but hopefully soon I will be able to get out. However, our trip along a hiking trail at Lake Catherine State Park will still be fun! So grab your water container (never forget your water), hiking shoes, map, and see what is focusing through the lens.

Lake Catherine in the Fall
If you follow me on Instagram you have seen this picture before. I couldn’t wait to share it. But looking out across the lake and seeing all the lovely colors starting to shine through, this shot had to be taken. Our Fall seems to take forever to get here but when it shows up the colors are amazing. This was two weeks ago, but since then the colors are blazing through the trees and gracing the ground with their lovely colors.
Stone steps leading down
The shadows were so splotchy this day as well. Just about everything I wanted to grab had these deep pockets of shade with the Sun shining brightly in other places. I know it makes this picture hard to see. However, these stone steps look like they have a story of their own to share. I would love to hear what these steps make you think of.
Old white house with vines
Yes, I know this picture is a bit out of focus and I am okay with how it came out. On our way, I saw this and asked to come back this same way so I could take a picture of this house. This was my first time using an 85mm lens. It is a borrowed lens, for now, and I was not used to shooting with it. Now, I love to use the lens and will be purchasing my own. To get to this house, we had to pull off the main highway onto a dirt road. There was a turn with a bridge but I couldn’t see if there was any other homes. As I got out of the car, a side by side flew through the curve and were staring me down. I can’t say I blame them. I was a stranger which was at an abandon house which was now in a hay field. When they saw my camera, they waved and went on their way. I walked out in to the field and took a few pictures with the borrowed lens and hurried back to the car. When I got home, I noticed all the pictures were blurry where I wanted them crisp. In my hurry, I missed the subject. This is a lesson, to breath and take your time.
Water fall at Lake Catherine
I had to save this one for the last one. I mean look at this! All the vibes of the Natural State in this photo. This is the waterfall at Lake Catherine State Park. Want to know a secret? The waterfall was very busy this day. There was a family taking family photos for about thirty minutes. We didn’t mind waiting because it really doesn’t cost anything to be nice. Plus we were able explore around this area while we waiting. We sorta started on the back end of the trail so we could get to the Waterfall faster which meant we could go up the trail a little way then come back to the waterfall. Jeremy is actually the inspiration for this picture. He suggested I squat down and shoot from the ground view. I love the way it turned out. What do you think?

Thank you for coming on our trip. I can’t wait to hear what you think about this trip. If you liked anything please share. Until our next adventure, y’all be careful and get out and see what is out there.
