Hopefully you read last week’s post sharing
Week 16 of this series. This week we are going to go on a Winter walk for our Focusing Through the Lens series. So put on your hiking boots and jacket and let’s hit the trail.
Believe it or not, this was taken on the rare day last week where we had a bright Sunny Day. I left this picture unfiltered to show the warmth and brightness of the Sun. Normally I am not a fan of the Sun but after a week of gray, wet, Wintery weather I was super glad to see it. We hopped into our rubber boots and took off into the Woods to see what we could explore before I had to go work and we were not disappointed. There has always been something magical about the Woods ever since childhood for me and I hope Glitter finds them magical as well.
Do you know what they are commonly called? I was a little surprised when I found out. They are called Turkey Tails. They are a fairly common fungus especially in my area in Arkansas. Hubby and I are have been exploring trying to learn more about fungus in our state. We have a hiking trip planned for the early Spring to go in search of more.
This picture seems so simple but truthfully it is a testament to how far I have come as a photographer. If someone had told me I would be able to shoot something like this I would have laughed and told them in my dreams. Is this the best photograph out there? Of course not. There is much wrong with it but I am proud of it. The crispness of the acorn cap to the left pulls your eye off the middle. However, if you look again, the whole picture comes into focus. The double acorn caps in the front, the leaves in the middle and the soft bokeh in the back. It all allows you to form a story of your own just based on a photograph.
I am learning how to shoot portraits and am super grateful I have a willing subject. Glitter has been super cool with a spur of the moment notice to go take a new round of pictures. This was between Christmas and New Years while the decorations were still up downtown of our charming city. We fought the wind the whole time with hair and cooler temps. She was a trooper and this was all of ours favorite picture of that evening.
I hope you have enjoyed our little hike during these dreary Winter days. Don’t forget to tell me which one is your favorite.
Until we meet next.
